Muhammad Hasan Morshed- Artist and educator from Bangladesh is renowned for his water color technique, installations and video art and has exhibited his art as solo in several countries including Iran and Uganda. He won the first prize for painting at the 18th International Festival of Visual Arts for Young Artists in Gorgan, Iran in the year of 2011. Morshed born in Rangpure, Bangladesh on 11 January 1985. His 1st training on art work came from his father Artist Qamrul Hasan Qalon (1949-2003) who was a painter and sculptor. When Morshed was only 12 years old he worked on a daily newspaper as an illustration artist. He completed his Bachelor of fine at 2005 from Oriental Art department at the University of Dhaka Bangladesh and subsequently Master of Fine Arts degree at the year of 2009. Morshed got Departmental best award at 2011. National award at 2008 & 2013 and International award from Iran and Morocco at 2011 and 2012. He did four solo exhibitions in National press club Dhaka Bangladesh, Zainul gallery- University of Dhaka Bangladesh, Hepta Galley, Tehran and Makerere Art Gallery, Kampala. Some of his participation in group exhibitions include “the Virtual Art Park Sjøholmen, Norway, ‘Kunstvlaai Festival’ the Netherland,‘Monitor7’ Toronto, ‘18th international visual arts festival of young artists’ Iran , ‘400 years of Rembrandt’ Dutch Embassy, and 15 Asian Art Biennale, Bangladesh. Morshed is selected as faculty at NIAAD, Uganda for one year in autumn season and did several water colour workshops for the students and participants as visiting academic including Nagenda and Makere University Kampala.

Dhaka, March 22, 2011 Having lived in Dhaka for over almost three years, the first thing I would like to say is that I know well the painter Mr Hasan Morshed, since I have been following his progression for the last two. His work is committed, experimental, daring, such as what we are going to be able to see in this new exhibition: water colours on paper and big size works. The colour Of Bangladesh is very special and, therefore, difficult to reflect, but Mr. Morshed, with his technique and his talent succeeds. The green of the countryside of Bangladesh is unique, the golden prairies impressed the poet Rabindranath Tagore to the extreme of keeping them for ever in his works and, even, in the National Anthem .And the light Of the dusk has no comparison. In Westem art we had to wait until the XVIIth century to have the light painted by VelÃzquez. Our art is different and that is why I recommended Mr. Morshed to spend some time in Spain to get exposed, observe and learn from our great masters. Now he will manage to do it and he will complete a dimension that I found was lacking. It is a pleasure and an honour to be able to write these few words at the beginning Of the catalogue and to witness such an example of genuine modern Art. I would like to thank the organizers for granting me always this unilateral hospitality so difficult to reciprocate.May I also congratulate them for having chosen this artist to exhibit in one the best galleries in Dhaka. I hope you will enjoy it as much as me and I wish Mr.Morshed the success in the exhibition that intimates that in his career.

Dhaka, January 17, 2011 Mr. Hasan Morshed is a young artist of Bangladesh at present student Of M.F.A in Oriental art,University Of Dhaka and I found him to be among the most talented I have taught- this was a widely held opinion at faculty among Other professors and teachers as well. His reputation continued to grow since, and he is now considered to be exceptionally talented and among the most gifted. Even after graduation, we have maintained our relationship, and I am quite acquainted with his pieces, showings, and projects. On these occasions, we discuss his art work as well as his exhibitions. At each meeting, I am always quite impressed to find that his love for art (especially installation and performance art for political content as well as for commercial uses), which has always been strong, continues to get even stronger. As a water color painter, has began his journey to provide large number of published and unpublished legends as well as myth. Quite clearly, his talents are vested in his ability to determine style, technique and medium best suited to produce the desired effects - as well as conforming to reproduction requirements. Everyone that I know who knows Mr. Morshed feels the same and wishes him well. I strongly support him in his continuing excellence in this field.

I have seen some works of Hasan Morshed a young artist of Bangladesh. There is no doubt about his talent. He works in several media: oil on paper and canvas, Water color on paper, pencil sketch, mural painting ,installation etc His subjects are varied with a wide contextual range. He has painted scenes of well known pulished and unpublished legends for example a scene Of Behula and Lokhindar. He has tried his hand in drawing experimental figures with ink and brush which have an evocative appeal both for the eye and the heart. Morshed has a fine drawing, a pencil sketch made in 2002, which shows two street boys Of Dhaka seated on a bare floor, eating something from a bowl in front of them in one comer we see another bowl and a kettle, while in another some household items, neatly kept. Hasan morshed has demonstrated his competence in landscape painting, too. "Landscape,Srimong01,Sylhet", Water color on paper, done in December 2005, is a fine art work, southing both to the eye and the mind .So is the entitled" St martin' a water color painting executed in July 2006 . Morshed has a clear streak of romanticism in him which is attractively demonstrated in his water color piece entitled "Youth of Nature" done in 2006. He has also tried his hand at some near surrealistic works, such as award winning work "The Jadu Ghar "series. Morshed's participation with his video art named 'Protocol' in recent exhibitions Annual MONITOR 7 :New South Asian Short Film and Video screening program at the National Film Board Médiathéque, Toronto, 2011, Training at a good Art Institute abroad,will help develop his talent.I wish he gets such a chance.

মোহাম্মদ হাসান মোর্শেদ, একজন টগবগে তরুণ শিল্পীর নাম। মোর্শেদ এখনও তার শিক্ষা জীবন শেষ করেনি কিন্তু ইতিমধ্যেই একজন শিল্পীর দায়িত্ব ও কর্তব্য সম্পর্কে যথেষ্ট সচেতনতার পরিচয় দিয়েছেন তার শিল্পকর্মের মাধ্যমে । শিল্পী হাসান মোর্শেদ কাল ও সমাজ সচেতন শিল্পী । প্রাচীন ও বর্তমানকালের অজ্ঞাত ও অপ্রচলিত বিষয়ের অনুসন্ধান ও সেই সমস্ত বিষয়ের শিল্পরুপ দান তার শিল্পকে ব্যতিক্রমী বৈশিষ্ট্যপূর্ণ রুপদানে সক্ষম হয়েছে। তার ব্যতিক্রমী বৈশিষ্ট্যপূর্ণ শিল্পকর্মের গঠন প্রক্রিয়া, রঙয়ের ব্যবহার, বিষয়ের উপস্থাপন ও প্রকাশভঙ্গি তিনি যে একজন সৃষ্টিশীল দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির অধিকারী মানুষ সে কথা স্পষ্টররুপে তুলে ধরে । শিল্পীকলার ছাত্র হিসেবে মোহাম্মদ হাসান মোর্শেদ অত্যন্তকর্মঠ, অনুসন্ধানী, কর্মতৎপর, মননশীল ও মনঃসমীক্ষণে আগ্রহী । একারণে জানবার ও বুঝবার আগ্রহের প্রাবল্যে মোর্শেদ ছাত্র, শিক্ষক ও গুরুজনদের হৃদয়ের ভালবাসা ও আশীর্বাদ পেতে সক্ষম হয়েছেন। তার নিঃসঙ্কোচ আচরণ ও বচন তার আকাঙ্খা পূরণে সহায়ক হয়েছে৷ ফলে হাসান মোর্শেদের পক্ষে দুর্গম পথ পাড়ি দিয়ে বর্তমান অবস্থানে পৌছানো সম্ভব হয়েছে । সম্ভব হয়েছে শিল্প জগতের অধিবাসীদের জমজমাট জগতের অভ্যন্তরে প্রবেশ করা। শিল্পী হাসান মোর্শেদ ইতিমধ্যেই তার শিল্পকর্ম নিয়ে দু'বার শিল্পপ্রেমী দর্শকদের সামনে উপস্থিত হয়েছেন । প্রদর্শন করেছেন তার ভাবনার ফসলগুলোকে । দর্শক প্রদর্শনীর শিল্পকর্ম দর্শনে শিল্পীর ব্যতিক্রমী ভাবনা ও ভাবনার প্রকাশ প্রক্রিয়ায় অভিনবত্তের সন্ধান পেয়েছেন । অভিনবত্তের সন্ধান পেয়েছেন শিল্পীর স্থাপনা শিল্পের মাঝেও ৷ অভিনবত্তের কারণেই তার স্থাপনা শিল্প পুরস্কার জিতে নিতে সক্ষম হয়েছে। এ পুরস্কারসহ শিল্পী বেশকিছু পুরস্কার পাবার গৌ রব অর্জন করেছেন । বাংলাদেশ শিল্পাঙ্গনের তারুণ্যের প্রতীক শিল্পী মোহাম্মদ হাসান মোর্শেদের সর্বাঙ্গীন সাফল্য কামনা করি।

Artist Qamrul Hasan Qalon (1949-2003)

He completed his graduation in oriental Art from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka in 1973. Then he attended thesis course in the Howard university, Washington D.C. U.S.A from 1975-1977. He studied in drawing and painting in Rijiks academy, Amsterdam, Holland under academic Scholarship. He also studied in drawing and painting in the Tokyo University of Fine Arts, Japan under Japan Foundation Fellowship 1979-1980. He had done twenty solo painting exhibitions inside the country and eleven solo painting exhibitions in abroad which were held in London, Amsterdam, Paris, New York, Texas, Washington D.C, Maryland, Tokyo and Riyadh.
